Your wedding will be delightfully relaxed with us. Your guests will drive up the long avenue, meandering through the old meadows, to be greeted by you at the hall door of the Castle. Imagine your guests being shown into the Georgian drawing rooms for your reception; which can equally be set up on the croquet lawn.
A rehearsal dinner the night before can be held in the wonderfully moody purple dining room. Or perhaps a buffet in the vaulted kitchens is more to your taste. All the rooms downstairs are enfilade encouraging guests to wander freely from one to the other, where fires will be lit and flowers from the grounds scenting the rooms. Queen it up and Lord it over your minions - its your day.
On the big day when dinner is called your guests will be ushered through the walled garden under the stone arch and shown to their places in the Great Barn where our esteemed staff will be on hand at all times
The Barn which can accommodate up to 155 guests has had many incarnations but this is its happiest. Weddings, christenings, Valentine’s balls and birthdays - we’ve catered them all, large and small.
With its exposed wooden beams, brick arches and lovely joinery by Dave, it has universal appeal. The bar, the dancefloor, kitchens and restrooms are all under the one roof - so keeping your party together.
The food we serve for weddings and other celebrations is frankly delicious. Our influences are Italian, French and Middle Eastern cooking coupled with cuisine from the famous River cafe, Jamie Oliver, David Tannis,Yotam Ottolenghi, Madhur Jaffery. Wonderful chefs all and still inspiring people every day. We source all our meat and fish locally and our chesses are all supplied by Sheridans cheesemongers.
Ante pastas and Middle Eastern mezze spread out for all to share, break the ice and have everyone chatting. Followed by large platters and boards with roasts or casseroles, add further to the harvest festival/village fete atmosphere. Pretty vintage jugs of wine and bottles of spring water from our own well keeps it all flowing.
Wine, Prosecco and Champagne all to be found on our small but excellent wine list.
We have a simple rule around alcohol, if we do the catering we supply the alcohol.
